Laredo Middle School

The Laredo Middle School in Aurora, Colorado is rebuilding an all new campus for students where the current outdoor track sits. The new school will include a cafeteria twice the size of the current one, outdoor classrooms, outdoor dining, more natural light and a separate bus and car drop-off lane. A huge focus will also be to improve traffic flow. Renovations to the current athletic facilities will also be a part of this phase of construction.CPI was awarded the supply and install of the mass timber scope of the new build, which includes large glulam beams spanning across the main entrance, supporting CLT roof panels. Coordination between the steel and CMU construction enclosing the mass timber will be essential to the success of this project. Another major factor is that construction will take place while the current school remains active, creating logistical problems to solve with site deliveries and restrictive working hours. The mass timber scope is slated to be built in Q1 2026.
