Skylab Architecture HQ

CPI helped build out the mass timber interior office spaces in Skylab Architecture’s new headquarters, located in Portland’s NW industrial area. The space itself is made up of two repurposed steel buildings, along with an adjacent storage yard. The interior of the steel hanger-style buildings’ somewhat cold and industrial features contrast beautifully against the warm, inviting tones of the wood grain in the CLT and glulam materials. Inside the building, there are four 15-foot tall trees in the large open working area, creating a truly biophilic environment for the designers to enjoy. During the warmer months, the large garage doors can be opened, allowing the employees to transition easily from inside to out.
