Mt Scott Community Center

Carpentry Plus Inc was awarded the supply-install for the mass timber on the renovation of the Mt Scott Community Center. Our team has personal ties to this community center, as Russ Brotnov used to bring his children here growing up, and so we were very excited to be able to help renovate this space for future generations to enjoy. This building, located in southeast Portland, is meant to feel like “a cabin nestled in the woods”. This translates into The sloping roofs with deep overhangs, built from CLT and the outdoor covered spaces create a large and welcoming ‘front porch’ entry. CLT was then used strategically within the space to create a feeling of bringing the exterior inside with the warm wood fiber being used in the fitness center, the updated lobby, event halls and preschool classrooms. Ample natural light is provided at the lobby through a large skylight. This project is targeting a LEED-Gold certification.
